Class Policies

Starstruck Cat Studio is a small, locally-owned shop that endeavors to keep costs as low as possible while providing a great experience to each of our guests.  We appreciate your cooperation in following our policies so that everyone in our classes learns a lot and enjoys the class.

FEES

All class fees are due at the time of registration.  Students are not registered for the class until payment is made.  Class fees are nonrefundable.  If a student cancels registration more than a week before class, shop credit for the amount of the class fee will be issued.  If a student cancels registration less than a week before class, shop credit for half the amount of the class fee will be issued.  If Starstruck Cat Studio cancels the class, class fees will be refunded to the student.

MINIMUM & MAXIMUM NUMBER OF STUDENTS

Many of our teachers are not already at the shop during the time of the classes they teach, so they ask that there is a minimum number of students in their classes to come to the shop and teach.  We try to make students aware of that number, and we also try NOT to ever cancel a class because of not reaching that minimum.  But, sometimes it happens, and when it does, we refund the entire class fee to the student.

On the other end of the spectrum, we also limit the number of students that we have in each class because we want every student to have the attention they deserve.  This maximum number is set by the teacher and varies from class to class.  For beginner classes, the maximum number is usually around four, but for some of the advanced technique classes, the number is higher.

PREREQUISITES

We get it– you’re really excited to learn something new!  But if you don’t have the minimum skills you need to be successful in one of our classes, you’re not going to be happy, and the instructor isn’t either.  So please– be honest with us when we ask if you know how to purl or if you can bind off by yourself.  And if you’re not quite ready for the class you’d like to take, we’ll work to get you into a class to learn the skills you need to be successful the next time it’s offered.

SUPPLIES

We try to make it clear when students need to provide supplies for our classes so there are no surprises.  If you’re not going to purchase the supplies when you register for the class, we appreciate you coming in at least 15 minutes before your class is scheduled to begin so that we can help you pick out what you need and get you squared away before your class begins.  We also appreciate you purchasing any supplies you need for the class that you don’t have in your stash from us.  We’ve personally worked with everything we offer for sale in the shop, so we know it’s good stuff.  And your support of our shop by purchasing our supplies ensures that we’re able to keep offering classes and events to you!

IN-CLASS GUIDELINES

To ensure that everyone has a great in-class experience, please observe the following guidelines:

  1. Please arrive about 5-10 minutes before your class is scheduled to begin.  This will give you time to get settled and ensure that the full class time is available for instruction.
  2. Please switch your cell phone to vibrate or silent before class begins.  If you must take a call, we understand.  If your taking the call (or multiple calls) disturbs the other students, we might ask you to come back to class at a time that is more convenient to you.
  3. Although children are welcome at Starstruck Cat Studio, we do not have the facilities or staff to offer childcare during classes.
  4. Enjoy your class!
